"Abbie Welch did not make this CD. She did not come up with the idea, choose the songs, or select the players. Some would call it “Divine Intervention” while others would say that all the elements of the Universe were in place for the creation of this piece of art. 

As with most truly gifted artists, the idea came during a time of quiet contemplation following a period of emotional upheaval. Because it was not her idea, a way was made for the financing, the right people at the right time, and the pure strength of her vocal performance that completed this project. Musical selection was not difficult. Abbie’s decision to contact singer-songwriter, Deryl Dodd, was not an accident, and when his material arrived with four songs, I CAN DO THIS was the obvious choice. Once again, Abbie didn’t have to decide…she just had to sing like she had never sung before. 

Steve Palousek’s musical genius is displayed on this cd in ways that inspire and move even long-time admirers of his talent. Amanda Brown and Greg Modasette prove what musicians have long known…that family harmony is best. Abbie recognizes the indisputable fact that “family” is whoever God puts in your life to love and nurture you.

The gospel standard, I SURRENDER ALL, is the final chapter of Abbie’s project. After she quit protesting, (the timing wasn’t right; she didn’t have the appropriate material; the singers and musicians weren’t available; she couldn’t spare the time or money) she sat still and listened to the deep, small, voice that said, “I’ll do it Abbie…just give me a chance.”.

Because this cd wasn’t Abbie’s idea, the credit isn’t hers either.

and for being more stubborn than Abbie."
